Wildflowers for our Wedding

Description

In honour of the first same-sex marriages taking place in Britain at the end of March, I at long last got round to writing the wedding scene for my devoted fictional couple - living a century earlier they cannot of course have an official marriage, the very idea of it remains unthinkable for all their lives, but they improvise, speaking the well-known lines of the traditional wedding vows alone in a private place in the woods, unseen and unwitnessed but meaning everything to them. They've put together the few coins saved and bought what they consider their wedding ring, a cheap signet ring for Ambrose to wear always, engraved with A and L for their names, but pretending to read only as his own initials to avoid any embarrassing enquiry from other friends. (This, a point in the plot I worked towards from the very beginning : Ambrose's surname was chosen because it had to begin with L for this ring engraving to work)
Having written it, I thought the scene deserved an illustration, and this is it. Ambrose, ever fond of flowers, made a honeysuckle crown for his beloved, and Laurence insisted he needed to wear flowers too, so with my earlier attempts at sketching the full picture all failing, we get a close-up of them in their wedding flowers :)

Ohhhh, how on earth did I manage to miss this one?

I LOVE the detail of all the flowers - the honeysuckle especially - so detailed!
